Winding down

July 3, 2009

Friday was kind of eventful…

Friday started with a western style breakfast in the hotel and strangely enough it’s the only day I’ve had wicked heartburn.

We had a meeting @ 3 but got to the place @ 2 to set up and since it was so far away we left @ 1:15 so the morning was pretty much a wash. We had wanted to go back to Shinjuku but no one really made an effort to make it happen.

After the meeting we went to Odaiba since we were pretty close and we saw the giant Gundam robot thing. I’m not a fan of the show or anything but the robot did look cool. About this time we were all very hungry so we went to some Chinese-ish place in a mall right there and had dinner. The food was pretty good but it may have been so because we had only eaten breakfast and it was now 6-ish when we were eating dinner.

After that we split ways and Charles, David, and I went back to the hotel and then to Tokyo Hands – a multi-level store filled with all sorts of random stuff. After that it was back to the hotel and time for bed.

I fly home today and already have my ticket for the bus to get to the airport. The only things on my itinerary are to eat breakfast then get down to the front of the hotel by 10:45 AM to hop on the bus.

it’s been a fun trip!

Curry place

July 2, 2009

So, I was disappointed in the curry place this time. Apparently the buffet is only done during the day and so since we went at night there was no buffet and also no naan. I’m not sure why naan is dependent on the buffet but it is. The actually curry, chicken, and rice were all very good minus the chicken having bones – wtf? – the buffet chicken didn’t have bones.

After that we wandered around a bookstore type place then caught a cab back to the hotel. I think everyone was still pretty pooped from the night before. That sentence ended with a preposition.

Wings for dinner!

July 2, 2009

Last night we went to another location of the awesome wing place and had wings and beer… and other random things from the menu. I mainly focused on the wings and the beer. I don’t think we got hot ones last time I was here but we did this time and they were definitely better than the regular ones.

There was maybe too much beer as I certainly woke up with a headache despite consuming copious amounts of water. Things started to get out of hand when the people we met there started ordering shochu and insisting we all try it. I stayed with beer and wings and I’m pretty sure I weathered the storm much better than the others who were not so fortunate.

Anyway, and hangovers aside, Charles and I – at about 10 AM compared to 7 or 8 on previous days – went out for breakfast and found some random place while getting lost trying to find a different place. I had some random noodle & beef plate with rice and a raw egg and charles had a rice & beef bowl with a raw egg. Mine was pretty good. I left the egg alone (Charles insists the creaminess of the egg mixed in with everything is delicious but I’m not willing to give it a try, yet).

After lunch we all met up to prep for the meeting later in the day and then went to the meeting shortly after. Despite some technical glitches I think things went well.

We then walked back to the hotel stopping on the way at a Lawson’s to pick up some lemon water and David wanted some tabloid magazine. Now I’m sitting here waiting to reconnoiter for dinner – we’re going to an awesome curry place that I went to last time! I can’t wait.

I’ll try and put some pics up on twitter but it’s super annoying having to do things from the computer instead of easily using Twidroid on the G1 to tweet. But, I don’t get service here so the computer is the only option.

Lunch & Meeting

July 1, 2009

We were crunched for time when it came to lunch today and since we couldn’t find some other place we were looking for we ended up eating lunch where we ate lunch yesterday – at the ramen place (which is fine because it was still awesome the 2nd time).

After lunch we immediately hopped in a cab and went to the meeting location and had the meeting. I thought things went well and that it was very productive.

Now we’re all back at the hotel and are going to meet up for dinner a little later… and I think we’re going to the badass wing place! I can’t wait.

Breakfast

June 30, 2009

I had a Japanese breakfast – I think called Miyabi – today from some restaurant in the hotel and it was pretty decent. It had a lot of stuff in it and was quite filling. I would still prefer cereal and milk but it was surprisingly good.

Up up and aw–hungry!

June 30, 2009

I slept in a bit more this morning even though I woke up at 5 and was ready to get up. I then finished day 30 of 30 Day Shred and now I’m super hungry and ready to get some breakfast… but no one’s responded to emails yet.

Update: as I was typing this the breakfast gods saw fit to award me with an email from Charles indicating that he is up and wants breakfast too – so in 30 minutes my appetite shall be appeased.

The rest of the day

June 30, 2009

Went out with Charles for lunch and hit up a ramen place and it was awesome… after figuring out the ticket machine and matching symbols.

After that we met with Andy and had a few beers while Andy had lunch. Then we had a mini-meeting in my room and then Charles and I went back out and had more beers… and finally some Suntory Whiskey.

Then it was dinner time and we went to a fondue-ish type place where you cook your own meet and gorged ourselves on beef and pork and more beer.

I’m now back at the hotel and ready to collapse. It’s time to wash some clothes, shower, and then pass the F out.

Breakfast of champions – noodles with fried thing!

June 29, 2009

Charles and I were up early (6AM-ish) and headed out to get some breakfast around 6:45-ish and found a noodle place near the hotel. We both got the same awesome thing – noodles in a bowl with some fried thing (egg maybe?). It was delicious.

We then walked around a bit but there weren’t many places open. I saw a cool rock wall but didn’t have a camera or phone or anything to take a picture with – oh well!

I can’t wait for more noodles!

Dinner

June 29, 2009

Went to a sushi place and had some beers and sushi – tuna, salmon, shrimp, some other weird ones I don’t know the names of… then got more lemon water on the way back to the hotel.

Time for bed!
